Windows tells me that I have no internet connectivity, though I can connect to the internet and IE can load a few sites, most, however, are very slow or don't load at all. I connect using the onboard Ethernet controller with the drivers that came with Vista. I connect to the internet through a proxy on a private corporate network. Any suggestions?

Slow networking on Vista Beta 2 + nForce 4
I am having a similar problem on beta 2 with nForce2. Ironically the only site that loads at a normal speed is Google! Everything else is slow slow it doesn't work. Looking at the network connection status it says I have received 0 bytes / packets even after searching in Google (and getting results). I use an adsl speedtouch router which works fine via XP - I think it is a problem with the nForce drivers included with Vista...

Google loads fine for me as well, just like some other sites. Micorosoft.com, MSDN don't load at all. My network connection status is, however, fine.

After reading a few posts about similar problems I started doing some google searching on my router. Turns out that disabling the firewall through the GUI interface on my speedtouch 716 router doesn't actually disable it properly - the only way to disable it properly is to run ":firewall config state disabled " from the CLI (i.e. telnet to the router and execute that command). That solved the problem and now my browsing is fine.
Still seems weird that google was fine though.. even google images was loading at normal speed..
Not sure about running my router without firewall on so might go back to XP :)

Well, I connect through a hub to a private network, and I connect to the internet through a firewalled proxy. I have no other firewalls except the windows firewall (hopefully soon I will be able to use the excellent nVidia hardware firewall again), which I use just in case some idiot manages to get a virus into the network. I can't disable the firewall on the proxy, but it shouldn't be a problem, all my XP/other OSes machines have no trouble.

I'm having the same problem on an IBM T42 laptop. It loads google great but nothing else. I can't even get through the Vista registration process!
